He has written several other books, including “ Democracy in Black: How Race Still Enslaves the American Soul.” Glaude is a professor of African American studies at Princeton University and chair of both the Center for African American Studies at the school and the Department of African American Studies. one of a number of books on race that have become bestsellers since an unarmed Black man, George Floyd, died in May in Minneapolis after a White police officer pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes. It’s “ Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own,” by Eddie S. I recently read (twice) a book on race in America that I think would be valuable for high school and college students (and, for that matter, everyone else) to read.
